LAPD reports that they notify the public ahead of time regarding dui checkpoints, in a press release that “crashes involving alcohol drop by an average of 20 percent when well-publicized checkpoints are conducted often enough.” Over the past three years, 38 people have died and 3,014 have been injured in alcohol-related crashes.
