LA County Reports Holiday DUI Arrests Up From Previous Year

Los Angeles County reports that from December 13 to New Year’s Day, 2,268 people were arrested for drinking and driving related incidents. The number of arrests is up from last year. Agencies plan to continue the crackdown on Super Bowl Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day and Memorial Day. Other agencies also report significant increases in the number of DUI arrests over this 20 day “maximum enforcement period.” With the success of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Campaign – expect to see more checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout the year. Many agencies received significant grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety. Across California, the money is being used to put more officers on the roads and set up more DUI checkpoints.

The Law Offices of Scott Henry always recommends that if you plan on drinking – don’t drive. Designate a sober driver. It simply is not worth the risk. If you are arrested for driving under the influence then you need to contact a qualified attorney immediately. Do not wait until it is too late. Remember, you only have 10 days from the date of arrest to contact the California DMV or risk the automatic suspension of your driving privileges. If you or someone you know has been arrested for driving under the influence, contact our office today at 888-444-7210.
