CYCLISTS CITED FOR A BICYCLE DUI IN SOUTH LA

POSTED BY THOMAS V. WALLIN || 14-JAN-2011

Five bicyclists, ages 18 to 22, were arrested, cited for a California bicycle DUI and released. KCRA.com states that officers were called to the scene after a bicycle lost control and crashed into the pavement.

At around 1:30am, approximately 15 bicyclists were riding on both sides of the road without helmets and barely visible to motorists. Officers could smell alcohol and conducted field sobriety tests on all the cyclists.

The five bicyclists were arrested on suspicion of riding under the influence in South Los Angeles; one of the arrested was the victim of the crash, although he wasn’t seriously injured.
