Matthew Cordle, 22, posted a 3 ½ minute confession this September on YouTube. He admitted to driving under the influence and being involved in a collision that claimed the life of Vincent Canzani.

Cordle was driving the wrong way on Interstate 670 on June 22, 2013 when he struck Mr. Canzani’s vehicle. After the collision, Cordle was taken to the hospital where he was treated for significant injuries and denied being involved in an accident. Police stated that they were waiting to finish their full investigation before charging Cordle in the matter.

In September, Cordle teamed up with because I said I would to film his somber YouTube confession titled “I Killed A Man.” The video received over 2 million views. Today, Mr. Cordle received a 6-year prison sentence for aggravated vehicular homicide and 6 months for driving under the influence. He had faced up to 8 ½ years in prison.

Unfortunately, this is an all to common reality. Driving under the influence has serious consequences for everyone involved. You should always designate a sober driver or take a taxi. Mr. Cordle made a poor decision, just as many of us do every day. No matter what the circumstances of your DUI arrest, you need to consult with a qualified DUI defense attorney.
