24-YEAR-OLD MUST SERVE 4 YEARS IN PRISON FOR FATAL DUI ACCIDENT

POSTED BY THOMAS V. WALLIN || 2-MAY-2011

Michael Freeman, 24, has been sentenced to four years in prison for a fatal driving under the influence accident that occurred last year.

According to the Fresno Bee, Freeman was driving westbound on McKinley Avenue around 3:30pm on January 24, 2010 when he collided with a Nissan Frontier, driven by 76-year-old Don Paul Lucas. Lucas and his 22-year-old passenger, Dustin Perger, were taken to the local hospital where Lucas was pronounced dead and Perger was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Records show Freeman’s alcohol level was two times the legal limit and he had marijuana in his system at the time of the accident. Freeman pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter and in exchange, charges of speeding, driving without a license, drunk driving causing an injury and running a stop sight were dismissed.
